Buehler vs. Brown Debate Exposes Governor’s Leadership Failures

Wilsonville, OR – During last night's debate, Brown recounted her many policies and promises as if she is a brand-new candidate to be taken at face value. However, Governor Brown’s tenure of nearly 4 years is mostly devoid of positive results, with virtually no accountability for the unsolved problems.

PLACEHOLDER IMAGEThe debate questions covered many problems that have existed throughout Brown's time as Governor, many growing worse, but the questions were only necessary because Brown hasn't delivered even minimally acceptable results. The students weren't asking these questions because Brown has done such a good job, but because they were challenging the status quo - with Kate Brown being that status quo.

The only results Kate Brown has consistently delivered are dismal ones, and the consistent theme seems to be poor leadership. Problems like the K-12 classroom funding crisis, the foster care disaster, and rising homelessness, have only gotten worse on her watch,” said Oregon GOP Chairman Bill Currier. “Brown's only answer has been more spending and more taxes. However, no amount of spending and tax increases can fix pathetic leadership and incompetent management.”

In a recent Willamette Week article, Governor Brown defensively suggests that voters just don't understand her 'style' when trying to explain why even Democrats are abandoning her.

“The truth is that voters have seen her in action for years and understand her ‘style’ all too well. She has dodged responsibility for failure after failure on her watch by her hand-picked agency-managers. Meanwhile, the problems have gotten bigger and more severe. At times, the Governor seems largely apathetic about the most serious problems affecting Oregon,” stated Chair Currier.

“When you're the chief executive of the state, and you spend most of your time blaming others while ignoring the big problems Oregonians want to be solved, it's no wonder voters are all-too-ready to move on and elect someone else,” added Currier. “They want responsibility and results, not failed policies and blame-game partisanship. Kate Brown is a heavy dose of the latter and almost none of the former.”

“Time to move on from Kate Brown towards a brighter, more hopeful future. It’s time to elect Knute Buehler for Oregon Governor.”
