Statement from Oregon Republican Party Chairman Bill Currier Reacting to 2nd Presidential Debate
Wilsonville, OR - Oregon Republican Party Chairman Bill Currier issued a statement Monday reacting to the second Presidential Debate that took place this past Sunday, as follows:.
"I want to start by making it clear that I find Donald Trump's comments in the video from 11 years ago indefensible. In no way do I condone them. They don't reflect either the views or attitudes of myself or that of the Republican Party of Oregon that I represent. What I saw last night was that Donald Trump did apologize and it seemed genuine and contrite.
Republicans won't be accepting any lectures from Hillary Clinton or her supporters on ethics or the treatment of women. She had her chance last night to apologize to the women who have accused her husband of sexually abusing them. She had no words of apology for them. Her actions to denigrate her husband’s victims are much more worrisome than a crude private discussion from 11 years ago by her opponent. Actions do speak louder than words.
Donald Trump was right to point out that, instead, we should be talking about addressing the danger from radical islamic terrorism, the pressing need for stronger economic growth, and the urgent need to change the direction the country is heading. Hillary’s answer is to denigrate this change and defend the status quo. That isn’t what voters are looking for.
Clinton even tried to cite “Abraham Lincoln” as her justification for lying to the voters about having a “private” position on issues that is the opposite of what she tells the “public”. From her campaign chairman’s leaked emails we now know that she is really helping the Big Wall Street Bankers (a.k.a. her biggest Donors) while pretending to condemn them publicly. It is just the game she plays and gets away with, like she did with Bernie Sanders and his supporters.
Hillary will say anything, but change nothing. She’s only fighting for herself and her political career, while readily abandoning any cause, principle, or person standing in the way of her political ambitions. Her contrived election year conversions on trade, Wall Street, ISIS, Obamacare, plus her lies to Congress, the FBI, families of Benghazi victims, and the American people show that she is nothing but fakery and deception. Instead, we believe the voters want real change. Donald Trump is the change candidate in this election.
Governor Pence said earlier today, "this election isn't about two people, it's about two futures." One of these futures guarantees more of the same, the other - a safer, more prosperous future. That is what we should be focused on through election day."
The Oregon Republican Party is the state’s arm of the Republican National Committee. It’s Chairman and officers are dedicated to preserving and advancing Republican principles within the state of Oregon and to improving the lives and livelihoods of Oregon’s working families through economic freedom and equal protection under the law.
