Oregon GOP Chair Calls On Kate Brown To Condemn Secret Voter Suppression Fake Mailer
Wilsonville, OR – Yesterday, Willamette Week reported that several suspicious pieces of mail attacking Rep. Knute Buehler were sent to Republicans across the state. The mailer pretends to promote a 3rd party candidate, even though that candidate has not spent any money in 2018, says he “didn't send them," and has "no knowledge of it.” It has no disclaimer saying who created or paid for the mailer, but it used a postage permit linked to a vendor used by the Democrat Party of Oregon.
“This mailer was clearly faked to manipulate and discourage Oregon voters,” said Oregon Republican Chairman Bill Currier. “Like so many of Kate Brown’s donors, it appears to have been paid for by a shadowy out-of-state funder, but this time in a way that avoids accountability.”
“After nearly 30 years in elected office, Governor Brown can’t run on her failed record and has no solutions to offer Oregonians,” added Chair Currier. “The Democrat party knows that her campaign is in deep trouble, so their political machine is trying to save her by using dirty tactics and suppressing Republican voters.”
“This has no place in Oregon politics, and Kate Brown, regardless of whether she authorized the mailer or not, should condemn it publicly and apologize to the voters who were targeted.”
The Oregon Republican Party is the state’s arm of the Republican National Committee. Its Chairman and officers are dedicated to preserving and advancing Republican principles within the state of Oregon and to improving the lives and livelihoods of Oregon’s working families through economic freedom and equal protection under the law.
