Oregon GOP Calls Ethics Complaint a Baseless Effort To Intimidate Senators

Salem, OR – Today, the Oregon Republican Party released the following statement in response to the ethics and elections complaint filed by Democrat front groups.

“The so-called ‘Get Back To Work Coalition’ should be called the ‘Put Oregonians Out of Work Coalition.’ The complaint filed tonight by this group was nothing more than a ‘scorched earth’ act of intimidation by Democrat and HB2020 supporting groups aimed at the #Oregon11 GOP Senators who walked out on the final vote on this bill,” said Oregon Republican Party Communications Director Kevin Hoar. “These front groups have a direct, special interest in foisting the unaffordable Cap & Tax scheme on Oregonians, and are angrily trying to exact vengeance on the GOP Senators who may have succeeded in defeating them, for now.”

“Political front groups for Kate Brown, Tina Kotek, and Ginny Burdick hired some lawyers and manufactured an astroturf complaint in order to issue baseless accusations and innuendo against the #Oregon11 GOP State Senators for daring to stand up to them to save Oregon jobs, industries, and protect families from the economic catastrophe of the Cap & Tax scheme known as HB2020,” said Hoar. “We stand with the #Oregon11 and all the forgotten and ignored people of Oregon. We won’t be intimidated.”

“The complaint lacks any real evidence of violations and oddly presents evidence of non-violations, mixed with a heavy dose of political spin. It basically amounts to a partisan stunt to hijack the ethics and election office processes in Oregon in order to hurl political attacks at people with whom they disagree. First, the Democrats call the state police, then they claim GOP supporters are militia, then they call the GOP Senators terrorists, and now this baseless complaint."

“The #Oregon11 are not only doing their jobs, they are courageously representing their constituents against the increasing tyrannical Democrat leadership ruling the Capitol. This complaint is the latest effort to intimidate those who oppose HB2020. However, every day, more and more Oregonians are waking up to what the Democrats are doing to our state, and the #Oregon11 are getting more and more support.”

The Oregon Republican Party is the state’s arm of the Republican National Committee.
