Mueller Report Finds No Trump Collusion, Time for Dems to Focus on Issues

Wilsonville, OR – Today, the Oregon Republican Party released this statement regarding the publication by U.S. Attorney General Barr of the report by Special Counsel Robert Mueller:

PLACEHOLDER IMAGE “Oregon’s Democratic leaders in D.C. have spent the past two years and the first hundred days of their majority in the House of Representatives making baseless accusations against President Trump rather than focusing on the issues that matter to the Oregon voters they are supposed to represent,” stated Oregon Republican Party Communications Director Kevin Hoar. “Today’s release of Mueller’s report confirms what we knew all along – THERE WAS NO COLLUSION. It’s time Oregon’s Democratic Congressional delegation start working for the American people, instead of wasting time on a political witch hunt.”

"In the wake of the report’s release, several important investigative matters that must now be pursued. First, there must be a thorough investigation of the alleged criminal conspiracy to spy on the Republican presidential campaign of Donald Trump, to promote the politically-motivated DNC-Clinton campaign-funded dossier, and to deceive FISA judges in order to obtain federal surveillance warrants. Getting to the bottom of these abuses of power is absolutely critical to restoring public faith in the justice and intelligence institutions that may have been corruptly commandeered by President Obama’s administrative appointees."

“Second, given the report’s finding that foreign actors, specifically Russians, tried to subvert the campaign of Donald Trump and interfere in the 2016 election, and that it all happened on the watch of President Obama, we must ask for and get clear and unambiguous explanations under oath from President Obama and his top officials. They let us down and didn't protect our country when it was their sworn duty to do so. We need to know what President Obama and his top intelligence and justice officials knew, when they knew it, and why they failed to protect the country in 2016.”

“We call upon Oregon's congressional delegation to pursue these questions and get answers without delay. Not doing so would suggest they’re more interested in petty politics and political gain, rather than making sure we have a justice system Oregonians and the American people can trust,” added Hoar. “Our state’s citizens are watching, waiting, and listening to see what they say and do to address this egregious abuse and failure.”

“Lastly, it is time for Congressman Adam Schiff to resign as chairman of the House Intelligence committee. For two years he repeatedly lied, claiming there was evidence of Trump-Russia collusion that the Mueller report conclusively found doesn’t exist. This is more than just a political misdeed. Schiff is one of just a handful of people in Congress with full and complete access to the nation's intelligence information and has a special responsibility to portray this information accurately to the American people. He must no longer be allowed to remain in a position to deceive us about the nation’s critical intelligence information."
