Oregon Republican Party Declares Its Support for Truckers and Loggers
Salem, OR – As the truckers and loggers gather at the State Capital in Salem to protest Cap and Trade (H.B. 2020), the Oregon Republican Party (ORP) encourages them in their efforts to save jobs from the Democrat’s destructive war on Oregon’s economy.
“It has been shown that states with similar schemes lose an average of 3.7 percent in manufacturing jobs, while those without such policies gain an average of 5.8 percent in manufacturing jobs”, said ORP Chair Bill Currier. “It is madness for Democrats to pursue such a plan”, he added.
H.B. 2020 establishes a new Climate Policy Office having limitless authority to regulate industries throughout Oregon and will encourage abuses of power and corruption.
Even after withdrawing from the Paris Climate Accord, the United States remains the leader in clean air and water. H.B. 2020 is simply a political stunt to satisfy Governor Kate Brown’s supporters and extreme left-wing climate zealots.
ORP Chair Bill Currier declared, “the ORP proudly joins with the truckers and loggers, and all Oregon workers, in imploring the Senate to vote NO on H.B. 2020.”
The Oregon Republican Party is the state’s arm of the Republican National Committee. Its Chairman and officers are dedicated to preserving and advancing Republican principles within the state of Oregon and to improving the lives and livelihoods of Oregon’s working families through economic freedom and equal protection under the law.
