Portland, Ore. – Last night, Oregon’s first televised debate for OR-05 took place. The race for this congressional seat has been covered closely on a national scale.

Candidates Lori Chavez-DeRemer and Jamie McLeod-Skinner discussed their priorities and plans for the district if elected. During the debate, Jamie McLeod-Skinner followed up with a rebuttal claiming Chavez-DeRemer was “white-washing” her own “track record”.

“As the first Asian-American Republican Party chairman in Oregon history, I am appalled and offended at the racially offensive language used by congressional candidate Jamie McLeod-Skinner towards Lori Chavez-DeRemer during last night’s KATU debate,” said Chairman Justin Hwang.

He continued, “Her language is reckless, and when confronted with her divisive rhetoric, she laughed. She has demonstrated to our community she doesn’t have what it takes to represent all Oregonians in Congress. She should immediately apologize, and reflect on the implications of her ignorant comments. We deserve more from those seeking to lead.”

Jamie McLeod-Skinner and Lori Chavez-DeRemer are vying for the Fifth Congressional District of Oregon in the midterm elections.
